Emergency City Breaking

Featured Replies

Alot of the Mk7 Golfs can be fited with the emergency city breaking system which will prevent you running into the back of someone at speeds of c. 20 mph. The system requires the radar used for the adaptive cruse control I think. So if you spec the ACC on the Octavia do you get the emergency breaking feature?

Some insurance companies are starting to offer premium reductions for vehicles that have these automatic breaking systems installed.

You can have it either separately or with the ACC. If you go for ACC it does come with the front breaking assist, as it uses the same system (radar) basically.

Emergency City Breaking (on other cars, Citigo included) normally uses a separate sensor on the windscreen which is usually a laser.

Okay read the buff for the car now, I see the emergency breaking system is covered in the front assist feature, I had previously thought this feature just referred to specing front parking sensors.

How many people sit in city traffic day in day out and would buy a VRS ? What's the likely hood of needing city safe braking ?

If it's a cheap option that gets you significantly cheaper insurance, then why not? I'd take it either way. It only needs to work once and it would probably recoup its cost in spades.

You can see in the attached picture where is the Front Assist radar (integrated in front bumper).

I ordered my car with this option, without ACC, only for safety reasons.

I expect the delivery in 6-7 weeks.

Do you know which companies are offering this discount? I'd like to check them out before my car arrives in September

Cannot find any insurance companies listed, just comments discussing the tech and saying insurance companies were going to be taking such systems into account when calculating premiums.

Also clearly I cannot spell braking, where is the edit function when you need it..

mate the sensor on the windscreen is for lane assist etc and not for acc or front assist.
