Fabia Vrs Issues

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Been a while since I've had to post on here but hopefully someone can help.

My Fabia is:

  • 7 yrs old (06)
  • 80,000 miles
  • BLT engine
  • Remapped
  • K&N Air Filter
  • Serviced regularly

Having had no problems apart from the standard rear door seals in the 3 years i have owned the car its recently began acting strange.

Occasionally it will turn over for a prolonged period before starting. I've yet to witness it not start however it does seem to be struggling. When the car does start it sounds a bit 'irregular' at idle, its hard to explain but it's noisier and the engine grumble isn't consistent. On moving off sometimes it will stall 2 or 3 times in a row but start again after every one. Once i am out of 1st or reverse gear the car doesn't seem to have any problems whatsoever. No loss of power, no dashboard lights, nothing. She's due for her MOT next month so if i can get this resolved before it would be useful. I have checked the basics (Oil, Coolant, Air Filter) and i have ran a shot of Redex through my last 2 full tanks. Having made no difference i am now here to see if anyone else has any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Nath  :hi:

Have you tried connecting it up to vacgom? That may be your best bet.

No, do i have to take it to a dealer to do so? How much does it cost?

I would say maybe get the battery checked and alternator. I have seen similar symptoms on another car and it turned out to be the battery had a bad cell

There may be people on here who have the equipment living near you who will do it for a small charge or even for free, there's a list on here somewhere of peoples locations who have it, ill try find it now.
