Cargo area vents?

Featured Replies

This may be one of those RTFM questions but here goes......

Do the vents into the cargo area actually do anything? I assumed that with the climate control on they would vent cool or warm air (as appropriate) into the cargo area. For those of us that carry dogs being able to blow chilled air into this area could be really useful, particularly at the moment. But with the car stationary in the drive and climate control on the high setting although there was plenty of cool air coming out the vents into the body of the car nothing seemed to be coming out of these. I admit I've not checked to see if anything changes when driving.

Am I missing something or are they just a design feature?

I didn't even think they were active vents to be honest. Can't imagine that Skoda would implement them in that position if they were.

They are vents but not to expel air. They allow air to pass down to the vents in the lower quarter panels. These allow air to escape from the car when you shut a door or the boot.

They are there purely to vent air from the interior back outside. If the fan is on, the cabin space would get very slightly pressurised, and stale air would have no exit path.

They are at the rear so as to sweep the interior and ensure the rear seat areas have fresh air exchanged on a continous basis.

They also relieve the interior pressure when you close the last door as already stated.

Thank you. That makes sense, I've just never seen anything similar on previous cars.
