Can you fit roof rails to a Monte?

Featured Replies

The reason i ask is that as per my other post my Greenline 2's engine has been very poorly & the longer it goes on the less confident i am with keeping it.

Thinking of the mileage i do i think I would be better suited to the 1.2 TSI engine but i cant bring myself to trade in a fabia estate for a new 1.2 TSI Fabia estate as there isnt enough excitement factor to keep me parting with £300 quid a month for a couple of years.

The Monte on the other hand is a tidy looking little car but I'd want to fit a towbar for a small trailer plus i need to be able to strap my kayak to the roof but i havent seen any option for getting roof rails on the Monty.

A member here has well fitted roof bars on his Monte and carrys his kayaks safely on them.

(there are holes to match the bars when you open the doors, front and back.)

Another member carried his Canadian Canoe on the Roof Bars on a vRS.

Cheers George that gives me some more food for thought.

I could tart my Greenline up with some Monty wheels & even get the roof sprayed like i seen another member do but at the end of the day it's the engine that im not confident with now so i've got to weigh up the odds.

Yes ill have paid the car off in April, but ill be out of warranty.

Worst case scenario is that i end up needing a new engine out of the warranty period at some point which i imagine would cost circa 3k & ill have saved about that much in 1 year of no longer paying HP.

I might see if i can get a test drive in a Monte when i eventually pick my car up & see if it gets me more interested.
