Viable Yeti alternative ?

Featured Replies

Getting 3 year itch as we mostly change cars at 3 year intervals.

Had a look at VW Touran in the flesh as a slightly bigger contender. (looking for a slightly bigger boot).

A bit underwhelmed in total I must say. Stopped adding extras at 29k (1.4tsi DSG SE) as getting

nowhere near Elegance spec, which would probably equate to 31k+ (as about 4K-6K extra's, probably

why you won't get much of it back on selling). Why don't they do a sensible model up from SE?

(Sport version a joke!)

When I checked the 7 seat version (accounts for almost all sales I'm told) you can't spec a spare tyre as the 6/7seats when folded take up the space where a spare would go. A deal breaker.

Would take the 5 door version as this takes a spare tyre but Salesperson said '"you will regret

it", .....his reasoning being we never sell them, don't want to take them back (very poor residuals

as difficult to sell), £245 extra to the 7 seat version so why would you want it? ..and we probably

won't be able to source a demo to try.

Amazed by the VW brochures as full of gobbledy g**k as the Yeti one's, especially the ICE sections with touch screen DAB radio system and rear view camera in lieu of DAB radio (you can't have both I assume) but you can have a DAB radio without DAB l!!)

Visually a bit of an expensive van (especially side on) and will probably not pursue.

Back to the YETI then ..let's hope they don't spoil it on the facelift...unless you no better.

I had three Tourans as company cars when I used to sell VWs. Very good in their day but it has been out since 2003 and so you're looking at a pretty old design there (even after the two facelifts).
