New Fabia vRS estate - boot chokka with luggage - 1000 miles through France to north east Spain and then back again. 40mpg, scampering through the mountains like a possessed terrier while keeping (just) to the heavily-enforced speed limits. Seats comfortable for 8 hours driving in a day, DSG magical, stereo blasting, air-con doing its stuff effortlessly. Downside? No road presence, the big Audi and BMW crew wouldn't believe a little Fabia should actually steam up a long 1:6 hill without holding them up. Upside? Fits the tiny parking space that came with the apartment we stayed in. What a way to run in a new car!
