Clay bar results

Featured Replies

Well, it's the national meet on Sunday and I thought I'd make the most of the sunshine we had today!

I did the following today -

Wash

Rinsed

Clay Bar'd

Washed again

Rinsed again

Polished

And finally a coat of wax

I was gobsmacked by the amount of crap that came off! I wash my car at least once a week so I was very surprised!

I also touched up a stone chip the size of a 50p coin today - with some advice thanks to Jason! It's not perfect but it'll do the job, not sure if you can make it out on the photo of the bonnet. :)

And then it started to drizzle... :( But at least it was worth it for the clay and the chip repair!

Very shiny Octy!

I have a question for you...   My Yeti is now 2 years old, it is white and looking flat and dull, I guess this is because it only gets washed and washed again, no polish or T cut or wax etc.

A week or so ago a piece of plastic flicked up off the road and has made a nasty scuff on the front edge of the bonnet but not a scratch, a rub mark.

So, do I need to T cut or do I need clay? I tried super resin polish but that didn't make a jot of difference.

I feel a busy weekend coming up!

Hi mate sorry to jump in, you should of asked yesterday as I do detailing on the side to lol a good compound will do the job mate but ideally on a buffer as your car been a clear laqueer you won't really see the difference by hand until a lot of rubbing has been done lol then a good polish then wax over the top and you should then see a difference mate

^^ What he said! :)

I've also noticed that my paint started to look flat. But a good "mini" detail brings up the gloss again. I will invest in a machine soon though it'll be worth it :)

I used t-cut scratch remover, I applied it and buffed it for 5 minutes with 50-70% pressure - with a machine it'll do it in seconds I recon... but after wiping it off and polishing and waxing the surface it came up like new. :)

I said it would didn't I?!  :D

Sounds a lot of effort!  I might have to see if there is a man who can do it for me, just make sure he is a good man so my car doesn't get covered in swirls  :wonder:

Or I can go at it a panel at a time maybe.

 Thanks for the advice.

If you get in a polishing person and they put swirls IN to your paint, they should have their buffer inserted where the sun doesn't shine. ;)  The total opposite should happen.

I got mine through the paintshop I use, it's nothing special only a silverline special, payed £40 for it but its done me very well for 2 years on a lot of cars, comes with a spare set of bushes to which I still haven't had to put in, if I remember correctly toolstation now sell the same buffer for about £35 I think :)

I know, it was a great car. It will be missed, I hope whoever gets it next will look after it as much as I did over the past year! :)

I think I was following a lorry and it went to turn off, but it bounced on something and loads of debris flew from it. :(
