'Map Out' EGR system?

Featured Replies

I want to try this on a VRS but how do you read or write to the ECU?

I’ve installed VAG EDC15 suite but as far as I can tell this is a file editor with no functionality to connect to the ECU. What software have you used to communicate with the ECU? I’m hoping to use the OBD2 cable that I use with VCDS.

You need to get a mpps cable, about £10 from eBay.

Is that the correct name for it ? A 'mpps' cable?

I was searching vcds cable. Dozens of results to choose from. I need a cable for setting up a new turbo, I assume an mpps cable would be compatible with vcds 'lite' as well would it?

ps did you get those brake lines sorted Stew?

This is what I bought, comes with the MPPS software (you dont use VCDS/VCDS Lite) which lets you download the map file as well as flash it back to the ECU.

Had no issues with this and EDC15 suite which let me enable launch control on my Fabia at 2450RPM, 2 minute job to download the map, 5 minute job to change fuel values in EDC suite and another 2 minutes to flash back to ECU.

Not got round to the brakes yet, but the lines look fine so should be all good :)

I know this topic is almost ten years old but my EGR has decided to give up the ghost so looking to perform the above on my ECU.

Is there anyone on here that can run through it step by step with me that I can pay for the services?

Thanks guys, appreciate your time.

20 months down line, still no error codes. Have any of you VRS drivers done this, especially on the engine with the anti-shudder, and is it working without adding full delete kit.

I did it my self with VAG EDC15P+ Suite and a 10 quid cable.

Left is default, right is mapped out.

That way of flattening out the maps seems like a fairly universal fix, any indication that it would be a problem to apply it to a Skoda roomster 1.2tdi cfwa engine?

Why i want to map it out is first and foremost to get rid of the p046c fault code that has started appearing.
From what i understand a egr delete remap should prohibit the code from reappearing, is it likely that this version of egr delete will do so?
When i checked the egr valve in vcds, it seemed to be 1.2% open at all times no matter what the control unit wanted it to be.

Also, would you complete the delete by installing blanking plates or is the remap sufficient by itself?
I've found two different versions of blanking plate kits, one is just a single blanking plate and the other is four blanking plates and a tube for the cooler. I think that the four plate version should be used if you want to remove the whole egr unit. Is it enough to just use the single blanking plate to prohibit any exhaust gas from entering the engine?

The 1.2TDI map, to the best of my knowledge. cannot be downloaded with MPS, and I also do not think that EDC15 would work for reading/writing into the map. There are probably professional remappers that can advise on what is possible with this later ECU.

Auch, i already ordered the mpps v.18 so ill give it a try when it arrives.

According to a vendor, the 1.4 and 1.9 tdi is compatible has edc15, but for the other TDI models it is instead EDC17. The mpps dongle should work for EDC17 also but i would need a different software? Is there any software you could recommend?
