Fabia 1.2 HTP aircon water drain

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

I have a Fabia 1.2 HTP estate and i suspect just like most of you i have been using the aircon almost continuously throughout the warm weather  we have all been enjoying, however today i noticed a considerable pool of water running from beneath the vehicle, i got down and looked beneath the engine compartment to determine where it was originating from and noticed it was dripping from a number of places (all fairly close together) and on both passenger and driver sides, i suspected it may be an aircon issue as i have only had the vehicle 11 months and i have never thought to use the facility until recently, i could see that i was not loosing engine coolant and all seals around the engine block were intact.

I decided to switch the AC off and drive for a few miles and then inspect again, this time there was very little if any water drips at all, so i thought ok, if i now switch the AC back on then drive a few miles further and the water drips start again the i can be fairly confident that its an AC issue, so that's what i did and low and behold there were the drips again.

Well being a thicky, and not knowing too much about AC systems i thought id better have a look on the Briskoda site or should i call it the Skoda collage of Knowledge, anyway i saw a thread that mentioned  the aircon water drain and symptoms that almost reflect my own and the kind advice that was given in response was that it was likely to be the aircon water drain and nothing to worry about.

My question is if this is the AC water drain why did i not see this when i first started using the system some three weeks ago as  every time i have reversed off my drive it has  been as dry as a bone, its only today that the issue has become aparent.

Thanks to all who take the time to consider this for me and maybe help with a reply.

Thanks again SG

Ps all other aspects of the AC system seem to be working fine and the leaking water is cold to the touch

I suspect the reason you didn't see this water drippage three weeks ago is that it was nowhere near as humid then.

Location of drain discussed (and found) in this thread.
