So decided against the MX5 then?

Aye, for the pure reason of im tight with money. I wanted the Mk3 like i said but it meant spending best part of 6k and i was not fully prepared to blow almost all my savings on something that will lose money and i may not enjoy. The Clio was cheap, quicker, and i dont know as soon as i had the idea in my head i wanted one yesterday

That's what I've found lately. Started looking at other manufacturers but no other car forum comes close. I'll be staying here whatever happens

Wholeheartedly agree, joined relevant forum and nearly got myself banned straight away..still not quite sure how it came about but never mind!

Everyone is very helpful and friendly

Still want and will get a Yeti though, when their as cheap as Mk1 Octy's :D

There is life outside Skoda (someone told me that's true!) but this is the best forum I've ever come across.

Met some great people through Briskoda.

Being such a popular make/model forum helps.

The Nissan forum also has some good people on it, but there is only about 20 or so regular posters because it's model specific.

There you go Emma.

Workmate has a 172 Cup bought as a cheap replacement for an R32.

R32 was a bit dear to run and the boot as too small due to the 4x4.

They were surprised how much they liked the Clio. Needed a bit of work to start with but hubby is a mechanic and parts were cheap.

Steering wheel leather has 'melted' just like I remember mine did.

I recently watched Harry Metcalfe's video on his own 182 Trophy and went straight to the classifieds for a look. I'm amazed at how cheap the 182 Clio's are in general now. My cousin drove a dealer demo one and thought it was quick then 6 months later one came up for sale where he worked. One woman owner, only 8000 miles on the clock and he gave it a go. Said difference was night and day because it had been looked after and went like a rocket. Bought it and kept it 3 years only selling because it's one of those cars that eggs you on to go faster. Heard many giant killing stories about it. They make perfect track cars too now they are at almost throwaway money.

Didn't want to the 182 for the fact I didn't want to spend more then 2k and that gets you a tidy example 172 cup.

I've had a few learning curves with it, I'm obviously used to a turbo diesel so a high revving petrol is whole kettle of very different fish!

It's faster then vRS without a shadow of a doubt and the way it corners makes me wonder for the money why buy anything else

Not long ago had a 172 Cup. Yes it's a great little car and very forgiving on the corners, you'll love it on the track. Cliosprt.net is a good source of information but lots of boy racers on there. Dig deep and there is sensible info and mods to be found.  If the car is on it's original springs and dampers they are very hard, Eibach springs and Koni dampers are a favourite upgrade.

I don't think much of that guy in the video.
