Hi all,

Just a quick introduction to you all really. Based in Clacton, Essex.

Moved from a 2.8 V6 4Motion Golf and can honestly say love the car, and the size of the boot is great with 2 young kids.

Are there any mechanics on here though as turned the car on this morning and was greeted with what I can only describe as a grinding noise when the engine was being started and now the Enigine Service light is on?

Thanks and hello again to all.

Dan

Welcome.

Does the noise happen just as the engine fires?

It does indeed, then and only then

Sounds like the starter motor to me, very common fault, mine has done it for ages, there is a guide for a D.I.Y fix if your quite handy with the tools.

If it's the yellow engine management light you will need to get it scanned, there are a few members from your area that could do it.

Thanks for the heads up, will see if I can find someone with a scan device.

I will have a look for the guide but to be fair, I am very good with paintwork, not so good with the mechanics unfortunately lol
