more electric window problems

Featured Replies

drivers side electric window been playing up for a while - not going up or down usually but tonite while parked up it started again.

now the drivers window goes to top then comes straight back down again and stops a third of the way up.feels like it thinks something is in the way but there isnt

Ive tried the usual stuff such as holding down unlock to bring them all to the bottom (which it does) but holding the lock button brings passenger window to top ok but drivers to top then back to one third again!

the cars sat in the garage outside at the mo but I cant leave it at work tomorrow like that

any ideas?

Hi Dazz

I've just been directed over to this section and was going to make a new post when I saw yours. My Fabia has window problems too. There's been an ongoing fault too with the windows opening by themselves. Apparently, this isn't possible and one of the family must have done it and forgotten - according to the dealer. Its been in and out of the garage a couple of times for that but I get the feeling they don't take me seriously. Seems to be something going on with the electrics as one of my neighbours told me there was something odd going on with my lights illuminating themselves at night.  Its not as if its an old car.

I've been tortured with water gathering in the rear footwells. I got a good break from that over the heatwave, but the problem is back again. The dealer had it in before and claimed to have fixed it, and they said they water tested it or something. More sodden carpets  :(

I too have the windows opening themselves.tell your dealer a  family member is not doing this and show them this thread.

I leave one car key at work (well out of blip range) and the other is with me at all times.I have come to the car on a few occasions near christmas where the doors were unlocked and both front windows down.

After leaving a key at work it didnt happen for  months, but last week it did it again overnight while it was in the garage

For me it is replicating the "keep unlock held down" feature on the remote which drops the windows to the bottom

I hear there may be a way to disable this in vcds by the dealer.Wasnt going to bother but now may have to look into it

Yours could be water related, but I dont seem to have that problem

Thanks must try the link :) Must tell them about this thread too, shake them into action!

They say, '' aw maybe someone didn't close it right'' and stuff like that

Well not a fabia but golf ! Storm at 6am and window drivers side open , seat friggin soaking wet! This has happened several times now ! But it always happens when its been very hot ? Wife says I've got dementia and I've forgotten too close the window :(

Well ive just tried resetting windows to top n bottom and for whatever reason it now shuts again to the top

But its still not a one button press i gotta keep me finger on it,so no doubt its not the end of things

Btw seb whats the best method for drying the seats proper,am gonna get this sooner or later i think

  • 2 months later...

hmm,

drivers window on mine appears to have opened over night, very damp seat, just taken it out for hour with heater on full, fan on high and directed at feet, appears to be dry now

car was locked ok, passenger side still up, so could not have been the keys being held to unlock

anyone get to bottom of this?

car on drive, definitely locked, all windows fully up, we shall see if we get a recurence
