Potential new owner...

Featured Replies

Hi all!

I'm currently driving a MG ZS 180 which is fairly clocking up the miles so I'm needing to change.

I've heard good reports about the vRS, so I'm seriously considering the this option.

I like to do a bit of the servicing myself, but can anyone give me details on what the car is like to work on? Also, what do I need to look for in a second hand car? I'm considering one which is a 60 plate and 20k on the clock; what would be a good price?

Thanks,

David

Hi mate - welcome to the forum!

Can't really give much advice about servicing I'm afraid but there are a lot of people who have a huge amount of knowledge about the Octavia on here so you shouldn't have to wait long for help.

Depending on the condition and specification of the car you're looking at, I would hazard a guess that £12k would be ball-park. Have you got a link to the exact car?

The Octavia is a great car all round. The vRS is a great value for money car with plenty of space and pace. You won't regret it for a second if my experiences are anything to go by.

From the little you can see from the ad, it looks great. Price wise, I would have thought you could haggle a little off.

There aren't that many common problems to be honest and as the car is still under warranty any issues should be dealt with by the local dealer.

Obviously, if you go and look at it, you'll check that everything works, but it looks good to me.

Deposit paid!

Great news! The vRS is a great car and I'm certain you'll love owning it.

Look forward to seeing you around on the forum now - it's a mine of useful information and expertise.

When do you pick it up?

I intend to pick it up in two weeks. The soonest I could get reasonable flights and a boat back.

Hope to introduce myself to the Welsh roads.

Picked up the car yesterday and first impressions are good.

I just miss the snarl off a V6 block and stainless exhaust...

Time to go off see what aftermarket exhaust systems are worthwhile! Once, that is, I get the keys out of the boot...
