Roomster 2007 Dance Aux Not Working

Featured Replies

Hi, first time posting.

Have just bought my 2007 Roomster 2 and so far pleased with overall performance etc.

However, was disappointed to find that the AUX option for connecting my IPOD isn't showing. Read all through the manual and even spoke to Skoda Customer Service who said that provided the AUX was fitted, which as far as I can it is as it's by the handbrake, then the AUX should be working as it would have been enabled when first supplied in the car.

I could take it into my local car radio repair shop but was wondering if anyone could offer any help on what the problem might be. Could it for example just be a cable not connected or is it most likely a problem with the actual electronics board.

Any help much appreciated.

Also can't find any mention of a code for the radio in the manual etc. Got the serial number printed in the manual cover. How would I get this if the radio is removed for repair or the battery disconnected for any reason?

Thanks

Hi, update.

Had a friend look at the set yesterday and he removed the unit. The AUX socket is wired and has 3 wires (black/yellow/green as I recall). These are replicated behind behind the head unit but are crimped together.

Can anyone help on the wiring diagram and whether these wires should connect to the main wiring plug that goes into the back of the head?

Is there anything else needed to make the AUX option display on the unit and work?

Thanks

God knows why they are crimped together. Sounds like someone has done a hatchet job.

If you uncrimp them and pin them to the head unit correctly it should work.

The pin outs for headunit should be on a picture on the headunit itself.

If not try the mygti.com website or hopefully someone here as a pinout diagram.

Thanks for the reply, that encouraging.

There was a note in the paperwork I got with the car that the radio was replaced under warranty at sometime and installed by the local approved Skoda repair dealer so should have been done correctly.

There is a pin out diagram on the back of the unit but my friend said the crimping looked professional so didn't want to steam ahead without being sure, even though it seemed logical that the wires had to connect somewhere.

He was also uncertain as to why, even without the wires being connected, the AUX option wasn't showing on the menu.

Perhaps the previous owner didn't have an IPOD so didn't even notice.

A thought occurs given what you say and not knowing much about that head unit. Does it definitely support aux in? Could it be a replacement for one which did and the aux has been professionaly disconnected in case the Dance unit was itself replaced in future? ?

Interesting point as you say. According to Skoda Customer Support if the car has an AUX socket then the original radio would have been supplied with AUX enabled so I would assume any replacement would be the same, but perhaps that's a naive view,

My friend is in the trade and is trying to get more info from his contacts at the local Skoda dealer.

Good luck with that. Id be tempted to pursue with Skoda if the answer is not satisfactory and you have paperwork.

Thanks again.

Don't have any actual paper work for the radio just a note that it had been changed. However, I have no doubt Skoda would be able to trace it seeing that it was replaced under warranty.
