225/40/18 Octy 2 CR VRS TDI

Featured Replies

Currently running Michelin Pilot Sport 3 on the front, quite happy with day to day running, although they where absolute Garbage in the snow we had. So I ask what are Octy 2 drivers running and their thoughts on said rubber, thank you Chris

I've got Goodyear Assymetric 2s on my vRS and love them in all conditions...except snow!

To be honest, no summer tyre (as 99% of tyres are) is going to be able to work well in the snow as they're simply not designed for it. If you want something that works well all year round, an all-season tyre would be best but I assume that they won't be as good in normal conditions as a summer tyre or as good in the snow as a dedicated winter tyre. I don't think there'll be much choice at that size either!

I found the Hankook V12 Evo (225/45/17 XL) were rather good in the snow with TC off and second gear get aways. I also used some snow socks for the worst bits

For snow and winter we use vredestein wintrac extreme winter tyres

Summer Michelin pilot sport 2 or Goodyear asymetric 2 tyres

We live on a steep hill no summer tyre would get up that hill in the worst of the snow. Best thing is summer tyres last longer as they wear out faster in the winter. Our Michelin are on there fourth summer appx 18,000 miles and still 5mm of tread. That's a chipped 240bhp 265 lb ft torque petrol vrs
