Octy vRS no.3

Featured Replies

Well I'm back again with my third Octy vRS (can't stop reverting back to them!).

This one I swapped for my MX5 with vRSSunroof on here and it's a lovely car! Needs a few bits doing mainly paint but I have it booked in for a full respray while I'm in Turkey first week of September! The main problem I have is the v70 flap is stuck so I only have air to the vents, now if it was stuck between screen and vents that would be fine as that's how I always had my previous ones set at...but it's not :(

Anyway took a pic when I got home yesterday afternoon while parked behind my mates black vRS:

This morning I painted the grille as I hate the chrome with a passion, also had it washed as well:

Loving the car just not loving the paint damage/scuffs or the faded paint. Hopefully this will be resolved and not happen again once it's been repainted!

Need to sort out the suspension asap as I think it's still on it's original dampers and feels like a boat, however that could be becuase I've come from a MX5 that was on expensive dampening adjustable coilovers haha

Very nice! Good luck with it. Is it just me or does that look very high?

you just used to mega lows from your coils ;)

I was thinking it looked high to! It drives like HMS Victory lol! Probably had standard Octavia suspension fitted at some point in its life which would explain it looking high and not as stiff as a vRS.

Terkin: don't jinx it lol I've seen at least 3 red ones including yours and lloyds that are breaking a bit haha.

Forgot to include this actually...

Before I picked it up I travelled about 20 miles to pick up a bargain 3" downpipe, can't complain at £20 lol

Hopefully have that fitted this week! You can guarantee a turbo stud will snap though :(

sensors aswell result, its red so gonna break at least 5 out of the 4 studs :D and yes 5 its red your find a 5th lmao

Haha, doesn't mean the sensors will work though :p

I am NOT taking on the challenge of fitting the dp, it will involve far too much swearing and tool throwing hahaha :p Someone else can 'enjoy' fitting it for me for beer tokens! :D

Just thought...I don't have any bolts for the 3 bolt flange d'oh!!

lmao very true

bah boring :giggle: its easy  done it loads of times now yet made a total hash of it last week :giggle:

blu tac ftw!

hmmmmm my next sticker thier i think :giggle:

Haha, you're not filling me with confidence :P I've had enough of laying on my back under cars, removing gearboxes, subframes, diffs etc and I'm just shy of 26... No way will I **** about doing all that again. That's what friends are for that like beer :D

I said mine "Was" running very well.... Soon after.

1. Aux tensioner and belt went

2. Cambelt decided to have a day off

3. Engine decided rattle

4. pickup pipe decided to clog

Seen the invoice for the pick up pipe dude

Been a bit sidetracked from this by my mountainbike :) Tomorrow's jobs include removing the CAI to go back to standard airbox  If I get time I might have a go at fitting the dp

Well I got rid of the cai earlier and got the airbox back on, runs much better and doesn't have the annoying tshhh on lift off :) I find the 1.8t really struggles with bogging down when I cai/induction system is on.

Really don't want to do the downpipe so I'm not going to haha. Plus I'm taking a bird out tonight and if any studs snap I don't want them to think I've turned up in a corsa with a bean can on the back ;)

Its good those things are sorted !

should be a nice solid machine now.

3" downpipe fitted today, are more vibrations on pull off and acceleration normal with one of these fitted? Looking for the rest of the system now as mine has seen better days haha!

Kinda forgot about doing anything to my car since I have bought my new bike. I have cancelled my full respray as I can't justify spending the money on the car considering its age and mileage...plus it means I get to throw more money at my bike  :giggle:  I am however having the spoiler, wing mirrors, roof and grille surround repainted while I'm in Turkey beginning of next month as those bits are really annoying me!

This is the reason I have lost my mojo with my car...

I do need a new exhaust so will have to get one made up, might as well have a stainless one seeing as my downpipe is on. Then I'll worry about getting a set of ProSport coilovers to lower it a tad as the shocks are well past their best. Then I'll get it to R-Tech for mapping!

White roof???

So, it's been a little while time for an update!

No mods done as I've been on holiday and a week before I went someone decided they'd drive into me on a roundabout! You can't really see the damage that well but the passenger side rear door was staved in on the lower half, scratched rear bumper and wheel and the rear quarter was scuffed. As it happened so close to my holiday I didn't have time or want to go running round for 3 quotes from garages of my choice so I let my insurance use their recommended repairer...what a mistake that was! I think Stevie Wonder would have done a better job with his eyes shut!

Here's a pic of the damage:

Just Car Clinic of Lincoln did an awful job! Rear quarter came back flat as a witches tit, dogleg was flat, masking lines everywhere, the rear bumper only had the corner painted (after being told the whole bumper would be painted), they didn't even take the scuffs out just painted over the top of them. The patch they painted in the bumper looks like its been whiz tinned. They didn't mask the filler neck seal so that's covered in overspray. It's an awful job which really annoyed me. Rang the insurance company and they have been fantastic so big thumbs up to Privilege for all their help! I'm having my car redone tomorrow hopefully they make a better job of it this time! The assessor that came out last Wednesday to inspect their shoddy work has assured me he will not let it come back to me until he's assessed it and is happy with the work. The insurance company have also sent me £50 cheque as an apology. They didn't have to do that as it wasn't their fault but it was a nice gesture.

So fingers crossed it comes back a lot better!

I wouldn't trust any just car clinic to make me a coffee never mind fix my car. I refused point blank when mine was reversed into, I chose where it went.

Hope it comes back sorted.
