All gauges dead - advice appreciated

Featured Replies

Hello there. Any advice much appreciated.

On my recommendation in 2004, a family friend of mine bought a red Octy estate, 2.0 fuel injection, automatic. Good in parts, it's also been often fairly unreliable over the years. (So I don't feel great about my recommendation overall - ouch.)

The latest reliability issue is the failure of all instrument gauges to work. Speedo, rev counter, fuel and temp gauge, all dead. Sometimes, however, they revive themselves. Then fail again. It's worrying for my friend who's a divorced lady on a limited budget. Any thoughts or recommendations on what to look for would be much appreciated.

Again, thanks in advance...

Many thanks George. How widespread, do you know, is the problem? Or could there be other likely sources of the problem?

Has anyone else had success with this fix, at all, do you know?

Cheers

Adrian

The temporary fix is to pull out a fuse 15, although all temporary (trip) details will be forgotten when the ignition is turned off.
