Picked up my new Monte Carlo today, Red/Black 1.6 Tdi. Love the look of it and noticed a few people 'staring'

Probably take me a few days to work out all the controls as I'm a bit of a 'technophobe' I can still remember rotor arms, feeler gauges etc

My wife and I are off to the highlands in a couple of weeks so looking forward to giving it a 'run out.'

Monte's do indeed look bang-on the money in red, going well with the black trim. Enjoy!

My mum picked up her red monte tech TDI last Thursday.

She's the same as you, loves it but hasn't quite worked out the sat nav etc yet! She took it on a run the other day and managed over 60mpg on the 50mile round trip!!

I'll be stealing it one day this week to give it a good waxing and then I'll try and pop some pics up too.

Hi robbieg, I think it's the std, when we went to the garage 2 weeks ago my wife saw it and said 'I like that one' (fatal) badge says 1.6 Tdi.

It's a 13 plate, 1 week old, but I've not checked April date? where do I look?

If you want to know your date of First Registration look at the cars V5.

If you want to see the date it had its PDI (pre delivery inspection,) or date first Registered look in the Service Book.

Hi George, thanks for your reply, I received V5 today, first Registered July 2013, it's a Monte Tech 1.6 TDI CR. (CR?)

CR=Common Rail, it is the system that diesel is delivered to the fuel injectors. Im sure someone can elaborate!

Common Rail - where injectors are fed from a single fuel rail pressurised by a single pump.

 

PD (Pump Deuse) - where each injector has its own pump.

Common rail (CR) is an older technology than the pump düse (PD) but weirdly VW actually abandoned PD and went back to CR for the latest generation of engines.

The CR engines are well regarded for being refined and fuel efficient. The 1.6 CR in your car is a wee cracker (in a small car anyway!)
