Yeti 2014 facelift - help!

Featured Replies

I'm trading in my 3 yr old muscavado Skoda yeti 1.2 tsi for a new 1.2 tsi bronze yeti so I have a new car with 3 year warranty again. Placed my order today and then read about the proposed facelift! I'm in a total dilema now - am worried I'll love the new look and will be kicking myself for the next 3 years. Is anyone else in this position? If it looks like this mock up, I think it looks great...

Any idea when the facelift will be available?

Help!

No reliable official images of the FL Yeti have been posted anywhere AFAIK. So no-one outside of Skoda can tell you for sure. But yes that image seems to combine all of the more credible rumours as to front remodelling.

Availability, as in delivery dates, seems likely to be Feb/March 2014 as far as anyone can judge (ie perhaps 8-10 weeks or so from nominal availability perhaps in Dec/Jan).

But it presumably depends how the factory handles the changeover to the FL model. There must come a date presumably when they stop making the old model and start the new one on at least one line (is there more than one in CZ?). Perhaps they'll be building dealer pre-orders to start with and so if you're happy with one of those then availability could come a bit sooner. But a factory order might be somewhat longer. I suppose if the factory actually changes production in Nov then this whole picture could be brought forward by a month or so. Maybe someone else what happens usually with a FL model?

Been covered many times now, first sight Sept and probably available Dec.

The photoshop in retro gal's link looks credible as it follows the trend of the current skoda line up, but i actually much prefer the current yeti front end. I'm not a huge fan of the current skoda front end styling direction. It may grow on me though i suppose. Anyway i'm biased cos i've just ordered a 170 cr elegance in muscavado :-)

Thanks for the info. So you didn't have any doubts Steve when ordering the old shape?

Nope, none at all. I like the look of the car and it ticked all the boxes for what i wanted. Didn't need 4x4 but wanted the 170 engine so it was the only choice, got no probs with that.

I certainly didn't have any doubts buying a current shape yeti L&K to replace my 60 plate elegance yeti. The facelift is likely to only have minor tweaks, and I like the current shape, and plant to keep this one for a few years.

Kitten and I are keeping Ivor for another 2 or 3 years yet.

Will go for the same spec wherever possible, but maybe in a different colour to our current pacific Blue.  Not sure yet.

So it seems you all love the current shape which is good news when I come to eventually sell with a facelift model on the market :)

In a thread like this I think you're only going to get positive posters. Me, I still don't like the fact that the front and back seem to have been designed by different design teams. But it didn't stop me buying one. Whether the new one will be any better in this respect, well who can tell until you've seen one in the flesh.

But like many people once you've owned a particular model for 3 years then you do, almost inevitably, start to hanker after some changes. The fact that I'm even considering buying another (though any actual decision will depend on the FL specs as and when they appear) should tell you something about how well it fits the bill, for me at least.

The prospect of an imminentish face-lift didn't bother me - I bought my second Yeti at the end of March. I get a car allowance, and one condition is that my car is no more than 3 years old. I could probably have pushed that but I do a fair few miles so wanted a full warranty too.

If the facelift is really that awesome then I can always pay the money to swap.

I think the current Yeti looks fine.Would not want to upgrade .

Retro Gal - when the face lift comes in the current model will become retro.  Your name tells you what to do :hi:

You can see more re what might happen here from this month's Autoexpress. Full article also talks about new infotainment from the Golf/Octy bring included. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/skoda/yeti/64978/skoda-yeti-2014-pictures

Yes I saw that...So hard to tell what it will look like though with all the bits and bobs covering the important new design features...

All this speculation and conjecture is hurting my head. :wall:

My concern is not so much what it will look like but what SUK decides about what the UK owner is allowed to have?

Yes agreed. My dealer said he had seen the facelift yeti and told me there will be 2 versions - an off road (4x4) style with the same round lights on the front and an urban city style with the round lights within the bumper, rectangular in shape. He also seemed to think the urban model would have more body coloured trims/bumpers etc than the existing model...

Well that is the first time I've heard that the one will still retain the round fogs...  I knew of the two distinct models but not that they will have different fogs.  That will indeed be VERY clever of Škoda.  They don't alienate us loyal peeps (and the new peeps that want the distinctive look) but they also have a new corporate look for the lot that hated the fogs.  Brilliant.

Yep. Pretty clever huh? I love my current yeti (including the round lights) and I'm sure I'll love my new bronze yeti just ordered, but can't help wondering if I'll prefer the new face lift version...Only time will tell!

I'll believe it when I see it. :whew:
