Featured Replies

Ahojte,

I would like to ask you if you could help me. I have bought a maxidot instruments where I have been told, that they are completelly new and never been used. After installation I got directly this failure:

it was clear for me, that the are not new. My car is having 159k kilometers and I have been told that this is happening after getting the PIN out or changing the mileages.

The told me just to ignore it. This is what I did, but after this weekend the instruments started to play with me. After starting the engine I am getting a sound warning and a "Error" message flashing on the display. This disappears after some minutes. After checking the failures I got new one which can't be deleted:

is it possible somehow to fix this? This error at start is quite annoying...

Thank you in advance for any help

Marek

A common cause for this error is using counterfeit tools or tools not designed to work with this cluster. SuperVAG K+CAN is known to screw up the 1Z0920842D.

Thank you for the post, is it still possible to fix the problem? Thank you

It MAY be possible, but in the case we saw (caused by SuperVAG K+CAN), it had to be replaced.

I am sorry, I am newb in this topic. How can i tell that it was caused by SuperVAG K+CAN? I have been told that reflash of the EEPROM should help solve the problem...

Reflashing the cluster may help if you have the correct tools. What tools have been used on the cluster since you bought it? Just VCDS?

  • Author

yes just VCDS, I have adapted the cluster to the car with VCDS Beta 912 and cable VAG912

That doesn't sound like a Legit cable or VCDS to me  :@

The two faults are not connected

the immo fault shouldn't be there when fitting a new cluster and is usaully caused by not following the correct procedure when fitting

Dealers have also had the immo fault when fitting new cluster by not following the correct procedure.

The cluster fault could be caused by another issue, I had a similar one on a cluster that was powered up without the screen connected or if one of the motors for the needles was broken

Both faults have only occured once, so see what happens

the cluster would need to be re-flashed to fix this

Excellent expert advice from Eddie-NL as always. Before using VCDS again update the software to Release 11.11.6. If you can't do that then you are using a counterfeit interface cable.

Hi all,

thank you for the reply.

@Eddie-NL: thats could be my case as well. I have been changing the LED's and after putting them back tank needle had some issues(even when I have was careful by putting them back).

I guess I need to find someone who could re-flash them :-(... is it hard to reflash? What cable and soft is recomended?

Thank you

Marek
