Hello I've have just driven back from alton towers to Hampshire around 180 miles, half way home my car flashed up with dpf, flashing coil and went into limp mode. I was just wondering what can happen if drive 90 ish miles in limp mode? Can the garage tell that I have??

Well im not sure what their official answer would be...but it's sometimes called "get you home" mode....& it got you home so where's the harm in that, if it wasnt safe to drive then why didnt it just go into "stop" mode :)

Well i was half way from wales to penrith once & i started getting warning lights but the car didnt go into limp mode & my feeling was that it didnt feel any different so i'd continue until it did.in the end i got all the way there, plus all the way back with the lights coming on again on return journey (after a reset by rac in between). It ended up only being an engine temperature sensor.

All im gonna say is this-just because the garage says that the ecu logged the fault at such & such a time or at whatever mileage doesnt mean that you noticed the lights, or the loss of power, well it's only an idea, it seems to work for those criminals on the police docs when they say " i dunno". So if one was to forget certain facts if asked then whi's to argue, at the end of the dayit has a fault so they need to fix it.

Thats a bit beter advice from you George.

So the original fault remains the original fault, but any further faults caused by continuing is not excusable & is basically a gamble that we take.
