Waiting, waiting....

Featured Replies

This might not be of much insterest to others, but sometimes it helps to just "let it out"... So sorry

for being "slightly" negative...

I ordered my new Octavia TSI 180 on 12th May. Have tried to get information about build-date over

and over again without success, until only a few weeks ago when I was told it would happen during

week 32. Three months after order. Being a bit curious I called the local dealer at the beginning of

this week to check if he could provide me with the day when it's built since it's supposed to happen

a week later. No, no such information was available from the factory... That's a bit poor and amazing

at the same time, isn't it??

They (factory) do not one week ahead of manufacturing know when it will happen!?! (Perhaps I should

add IF it will happen...)

I thought they had computers and some sort of schedules also in Mlada Boleslav... Surely they must

have it, but from my horizon there is no trace of such modern equipment! Or they just don't care to share

their knowledge, or my local dealer is telling me lies, or Skoda Sweden is telling him lies... Who knows, at

least I don't...

I usually defend Skoda, always, (for some reasons I can't explain...) when people around me is complaining

about the brand, but I must admit that my patience with the way Skoda is treating its customers is about to

end...

So, I keep waiting and hoping that my car will show up at least during 2013...

"Ignorance is bliss"...?? No it's not!!

Maybe when the factory starts production again next week after their 3 weeks holidays you may get a build week. My dealer checks the computer when I telephone & gives me the latest info. Dates can change but your dealer should still be able to check for you. We can telephone Skoda in the UK for help - if you have Skoda Sweden give them a call.

It is very frustrating having to wait with no info. Good luck.

Thanks! Advices appreciated!! (Although I have been on the phone many times already...)

The point is also that it has been like this even before they went on holidays in Mlada Boleslav.

Maybe I'm just too impatient and ignorant, but I had expected building-schedules to be know a little

bit more in advance. I mean, iIf they are building my (and other's) car next week, frist week after holidays,

those plans can't have been unknown when they left for the beach or hills or whatever three weeks earlier...

So, when they come to work on Monday there are no plans of which cars are entering the production line...?

(Since that was unknown information three weeks ago, before vacation.) I find that hard to believe.

Skoda will have to deliver a very nice car (without the errors I've had on my two previous Octavia II) for me to feel

satisfied with the brand again!

I ordered a combi 2.0 Tdi dsg elegance with pano roof 6th April still not got a build week, dealers a bit all over the place ie sh-t

Skoda uk just say "we don't understand "

I'm loosing the will to live

A week ago my dealer sent me a copy of the Skoda web page they view for info & that showed original build week as 36 with current build week as 33. Today he has done the same & the original build week has changed to 33 & current build week also 33. They think that means the build week is now confirmed at the factory.

Maybe your dealer in Sweden can check that on their computer also.

6th April...  :(  :(  Sorry to hear!

My gf, who now is happily driving a new Golf GTI (btw ordered same week as my Octavia), told me there has been delays also at

VW with people getting their preliminary production weeks postponed without any obvious reasons.

That doens't make me happier, and it won't make you feel better, but it seems that it's not only a "Skoda issue". Not even the

annoying lack of proper information, which is what has made me upset. I can expect problems and delays, but just let me know what it is!

That's what I think at least... Skoda Sweden says the same as in uk: "we don't understand".

That is NOT acceptable, but what can we do? Just wait...

Either they don't know or they don't want to tell us what's going on! If it's the latter, it's poor knowledge in basic psychology if they think

that rumours and gossips about reasons for the delays are better for the brand than the actual reason/reasons, whatever those reasons are...

odd ordered mine  18 may and got it 27 July  actually came  early was told  15 august for earliest delivery

Did you order the sunroof? As that appears to be the main cause of long waits.

I ordered 22nd May and still don't have build week. But now the factory is open, my heart lives in hopes of a call or email that it will be built before week 37, as the order is for steel grey, but my head is expecting to either change to black or cancel (it currently undecided)

what details do you need to check with skoda uk on a build week

Your name and address should be enough,

what details do you need to check with skoda uk on a build week

Your dealer should have given you an order number, which if you quote to Skoda they can look at your order on their system. If you haven't been given your order number they can check by inputting your name & the dealer who sold you the car. Now the factory has started production again they might be able to give you a better idea about build week.

Like "spitzie" I am waiting for steel grey & hope my build week 33 (next week) stays the same.

Now I finally got a build date, and it IS this week as I was preliminary informed.

So am I happy again...? Well, a bit maybe but the fundamental dissatisfaction hasn't changed; I think

Skoda (or perhaps the whole Volkswagen group?) need to improve their ways of "information flow"

between factory -> national representative -> customer. (the arrows could act reversed too)

Holiday season or not, it should not be so difficult to get proper information in more advace.

(Not when they are away from factory of course, but before they left!)

Good luck to the rest with similar delivery issues! I sincerely hope it soon settles for you too!!

Forcing myself to be a bit more positive; I'd say that it's worth waiting for! (and I actually still believe it!)

SUK have phoned and told me my car has been placed on a factory assessment list, because of the steel grey.

Hopefully the factory will check this week and either allocate a build week or hold the order until I select another colour.

SUK said there isn't a replacement for the steel grey, only what is in the brochure.

That's interesting, most people have said they don't get a confirmed build week until a week or two beforehand. They've confirmed yours nearly 5 weeks before.

I love Skoda's consistency!

Im sure there is probably a reason for that, as it, they will lump together certain models and extras etc and build them all at the same time.

not just a random, picking of yeah build that one for the craick

I don't know, everything else seems pretty random so why not this? Maybe they put them all in a hat and pick one out?

I suppose its possible, I will agree Skoda UK not offering options seems very random.

but I think they will have a plan, just because its not obvious to the rest of us.

Just had an email from the dealer plus another printout of the Skoda production details and it has now changed from Current Build Week 33 to Confirmed Build Week 33. So car is being built this week - might have already been built.

As the first date I was given was Week 36 it has come forward 3 weeks, so with luck those still waiting on Steel Grey might be lucky.
