What Octavia model do I have?

Featured Replies

I have an Octavia Classic TDI Estate 1896cc Diesel.

It was first registered 25/8/2006 so it should be the later Mk2 model as the Mk1 apparently ceased in April 2004.

Thing is, it looks like the older model. So, have I got a Mk1 or Mk2?

The V5 gives this info:  Variant SEAXRX01

                                      Version FM5FM52J067N0GGS5

My immediate concern is that I want to change the oil/filter but the recommendations seem to be different between the models, ie, MK1 VW505.00 and Mk2 VW507.00.

Please advise.

Many thanks

I think the mk1 will use a PD engine and the mk2 a CR engine hence the differences in oil requirements

As above if it looks like a mk1 it's a mk1.

They sold mk1s until 2010ish IIRC although the model changed in 2004. There are plenty of 2008-2009 mk1 taxis over here.

As above, they continued Mk1 production in low volume for some time after the mk2 was released for taxis and the like.

The MK1 was made with the PD and non PD engines, I think 2004 and earlier one's were the non PD engine, it's called a VE engine I believe, some VE engine were put in cars made after 2004 as well but not 100% sure. If your MK1 is a 90 or 110bhp then it's the VE engine otherwise it'll be a PD or CR engine, the PD's were introduced before the CR's.
