Leather seat care

Featured Replies

Hi,

Having never had leather seats before so I don't know how is best to care for the leather.

I have seen a set from CarPlan that looks like it will do the job.

Any hints and tips gratefully received.

Thanks. There is a Halfords about 5 minutes from work!

A colleague thinks he may have some conditioner that he longer needs (no leather seats anymore).

I've found the autoglym leather cleaner/conditioner to be very good! Tend to use it on the Fun interior. ;)

SWMBO rides and has one or two very expensive leather saddles and associated tack, there's some great stuff available for much cheapness in tack shops. At the end of the day, a cows arse is a cows arse so why pay a premium from a detailers section?

Because many people have access to a detailing shop..Halfords as well.

Not many have heard of tack shops...after all.... This is a Car Forum, not a Horse one :giggle:

Hmmm tack shop...not a bad idea that.

I think there's one near by as we have a lot of stables round here

Point taken, Chris but the idea is valid ;) Tack shop, equestrian supplies, saddlers, etc etc. The leather care stuff they carry is usually far superior to that in Halfords etc. Remember, a saddle can cost upwards of £400 to well over 5 grand. :)

Wipe regularly with a damp cloth

Every six months apply some Leather cleaner/conditioner

Many to choose from..but this is as good as most and at Halfords if there's one near:

I ended up getting some of this today when I passed a halfords. I applied it this evening and what a difference already. It says it can take up to 48hrs to properly condition but already it has softened up. It smells nice too!

I always used Gliptone.

Fantastic stuff. Gives a wonderful leather smell and a lovely matt finish to the leather.

Yep, Gliptone is great stuff for conditioning the leather.

If you just want to clean it though, a soft cloth with some warm soapy water will do the trick.

What do you guys do with the white bits on the normal vRS seats?
