My new Octy Vrs,first run impressions

Featured Replies

Well I have had it for just over a week now and have been on some shorter runs ,but yesterday was the 400ml round trip to the Santa Pod Retro Cars day.The car went very well and noticed once the miles had gone up to 500+ the speed @ 4k revs was in three figures  for a brief time on a private section, the only downside was the tyre noise on certain sections and the massive amount of brake dust on my previously clean wheels  I like this car

i've noticed that with the brake dust thing as well. i cleaned my wheels the day before trax last year and had to wash them again once i'd got there.

maybe some aftermarket pads would help?

Would say they'll probably be worse.

Better to have wheels resprayed in anthrasite. :D

lol... i was trying to remember what Q's wheels looked like yesterday while cleaning mine.

dont think they'd look right on a silver car though somehow.

lol save money just let the wheels pick the dirt up!

would that look ok on a black car? who reprays wheels?

Q has his done on his black vRS, there may be a pic of it in his gallery from trax last year.

it looked pretty good tbh but as you say on a black car only i would have thought.

i know EBC greenstuff pads are low where dust is concerned but i have been told that thery are not made exactly brilliantly. the red, black and yellow stuff pads are ok though but i dont think any of these are really suitable for normal to fast road use.

what are the DS2500's like for dust?

Lots........ but they are so much better than standard pads.....they're worth the extra work when cleaning the wheels. :D

Glad you like the car.Given up on brake dust problems.Even these kits that they sell (wonder wheels i think) to clean the alloys and then spray with some alleged brake dust proof repellant just don't work

i find turtle wax wheel cleaner is about the best i've tried. it isnt too harsh but gets the heavy crap off as well.

i used some wheel cleaner out of a diamond bright kit i've got at the weekend and i'm surprised the wheels didnt melt off it was so strong !

low where dust

I had brembo disks and pads from DOLL, they were very low dust.
