`Solid` white paint.

Featured Replies

I'm considering treating myself to a new Jag XF. I have a fancy for white which is a `solid` colour. Its been donkeys years since I've had a non metallic car, can anyone advise the best way to clean, polish and protect? It may just be the same as a metallic car, but I thought I'd ask.

Many thanks.

Mike.

It should be clearcoated still like a regular paint finish?  Just the basecoat isn't metallic so will look a little different.

In that way, the same clearcoat refining techniques apply - clay, polish, wax. :)

If you find out it literally IS a solid colour with no clearcoat, it might need slightly different approach.  Much like the red vauxhalls, it just might need a bit more of the polishing as the sun might get to it long term.

Sealer Mike...really brings out the shine on a white car...not wax

Love the XF..I'm jealous!!

I would apply this:

OR

A range of products:

As said, white paint still has a clearcoat applied, so is treated the same as any colour, but some colours appear flatter than others and so need a sealer rather than wax.........silver is another

EDIT:

Ive been reading some blogs from a Pro Detailer....he says that the Werkstat kit is the best on the market for white cars:

I had a white XF a few weeks back - had a day long test drive of sorts, 2.2 diesel, lovely car.

I was very much in two minds when I ordered my white Superb, concerned that it would be difficult to keep clean but to be honest I've been pleasantly surprised. It's treated with GTechniq C2v3 and this works a treat, washing takes no time at all and a quick top up with the C2 leaves it looking pristine again.
