Can the boot on a hatchback Octavia open like the auto version on the estate if they are meant to......as mine dont the latch makes a noise when you press the boot unlock on the fob and the boot opens slightly but the noise sounds like it meant to open all the way so its a case of just lifting the boot but i still have to use the grab button under the boot to open the latch fully allowing me to list it open

Mine is the same as yours.

I think its just a way of opening the boot without unlocking the rest of the car

I agree with ryan-re ^^

+1, but it would be nice if we could fit a strut to open the hatch.

Its been done I believe, there is a thread or two on here if you have a search....

I believe the idea on the hatch is that as you press and hold the centre button on the fob you have other hand on hatch and lift it as the fob pops it open, without need to operate the actual push button on the hatch itself. The weight of it will cause it to half latch straight away otherwise. Intentionally by design or not I do not know, but is normal. I get out of car lock doors then open boot with the fob, put keys in pocket grab all my crap and if hands full can close with elbow and when it's shut car remains locked with a confirmation beep and indicator flash. Very handy in that way, than setting everything down again in the rain to get keys back out to lock.

People have tried many types of uprated springs over the struts, lots of success with estate but none that I know of on the hatch? I would be interested in a successful one, if you find it.  I have always been interested in the idea but run the risk of in a multi story car park of smashing spoiler or hatch itself on non VRS off a low roof or beam. At least when opening the old fashioned way you are physically there and are hands on in that scenario and no accidental release with keys pressed in pocket like some get with windows opening.

I made that mistake - but only once!

Opened the hatch in the garage and before I could catch it the spoiler hit the up & over door. Luckily only a tiny mark, which was soon repaired.

Normal due to the entire weight of the boot pinning it down.

No-one's found a 100% effective way of getting an estate to do it with tap die springs on the shocks, but mine always open it a few feet with them opening all the way when the weather's warmer.
