Knocking from engine

Featured Replies

Has anyone had a knocking from the engine when starting up? I started mine today and the engine knocked when in idle and then as I was also driving. After only 2/3 mins of driving I lost power and almost had a mini in my boot :(

Has anyone had this before??? I know they arent the quietest cars but mine was knocking quite loud and it was loud enough to hear over the radio.

Least I got a Citigo Sport to borrow

Sounds like some sort of limp home mode may have been triggered by what ever fault you have.

I hope that it is not what I think it is... Spun shell*

I hope it's something simple and quickly sorted but any banging/knocking from the engine would have had me switch it off and ring the dealer (to tell them to get ready, it's coming) closely followed by the recovery folks.

No need for recovery as i work for skoda so was just a case of into works car park it is (i know everyones properly thinking why did I ask on here but its good to share experinces with people).

The car was checked and nohing found. No knocking or anything. Very weird. I got in it to come home and nothing. Spooky

Some up owners are having problems with a heat shield coming loose, but your description sounded much more severe than that, and that wouldn't cause any power loss.

I have a knocking for the first few seconds when i turn the engine on, but that's it, it goes away,
