Anyone in South Devon - Boost Pipe Issues

Featured Replies

Hi,

On my way to Torquay for a holiday and my boost pipe has decided to start coming off again. I managed to fit it back on but it slipped off again and now i'm having to crawl to Torquay.

Is there anyone around Torbay or south Devon that could help me please??

John

Pop into a dealer or hardware store for cable ties/new pipe

I am near Exmouth as the crow flies, but 45 miles odd in reality thanks to the sea....

Not sure how I could help anyway?  Fit boost hose then lots of duct tape around it all?

I pulled into Exeter services, unscrewed the jubilee clips, adjusted the pipes and reassembled. Ran well down the A380 but concerned it may pop off again. I think Mikalors (sp?) are the next option to replace the jubilees.

Wish i hadn't swapped the standard boost pipes for an aftermarket set now!! :(

Devon, i may call on you should an issue arise again, just for a 2nd set of eyes, ideas, etc. Hopefully it will all stick together for the week though.

Didn't realise you were on aftermarket pipes.  Have they got a decent bead welded on the ends of the pipes?  I run well over 2 bar and a couple of my boost hoses are not mikalors.  They are a good clip though!  Very solid.

I would go with self tappers if you're looking to fix and carry on. If you haven't left Exeter yet, you've still to go up Telegraph Hill (just the other side of Exeter to the service where I suspect you were) and your pipes will need to be secure as its a steep, long long old hill.... Mine popped off there a couple of months ago and couldn't drive away up the hill due to the low power so had to call a tow truck :(

Just a heads up :)

Cheers but i've been to Torquay many times and knew i had to do Telegraph Hill, so i stopped at Exeter services for a last attempt at securing it. :D

Thankfully, my fix at Exeter services held together for me to travel to Newquay, Exeter and back home. :)

Just need to get some Mikalors and my original boost pipe, then hopefully i'll feel more comfortable.
