had a new screen fitted yeti elegance

Featured Replies

morning all. Noticed some chips on my yeti windscreen two days after purchase ....phoned dealer...." I did not notice"...!!....he said.....in other words no joy there.phoned my ins. co. put on to AA windscreens....new screen needed...£75.00 excess...bit the bullet and went for it ....car is only 10 months old so worth it.Screen was fitted Friday....am...noticed lots of fine scratches in the low sun of the evening ! not happy. Please be patient with this....two weeks before I had booked the job in and rec. a phone call "the screen has a tiny scratch...hardly notice " would I accept ? no way Jose !! so the job was re-booked for Friday. what a wind up...I am convinced they sent out the damaged screen ....any way they are coming again next Friday to replace the faulty screen with a new one. moral of this tale...when buying a nearly new car go over it with a vengeance...don't be fooled by the showroom look and shine....this car had covered 7k miles from new.....everything else is fine. my fault for not seeing in the first place....think the dealer could have been more forthcoming though.......

What sort of chips are we talking about here?

I wouldn't get too hung up about it unless it was an actual crack.

At £75 excess each time, I tend not to get my screen replaced until it really needs it. Up here we have a lot of stone chips, I'd be getting a new screen every two months if I panicked at every chip.

The chips were bad enough to make the wiper action not good ie. not clearing the rain..... plus there were a lot and close together in places....I was informed by the AA they were not repairable so it was a new screen required. As the car is less than a year old I thought it was worth the £75.00. If there had been one or two chips I agree with you but even the fitter said there were loads of chips ...some of which I didn't notice. With my previous car (Fabia). there were two chips but they did not interfere with the operation of the wipers so I ignored them. I did mention to the dealer that when the valet was done the damage should have been picked up.......??..my fault for not looking close enough before doing the deal...I won't be losing sleep over it !!!

Cool.

At least the screen is easier to sort than stone chips on the bonnet.
