Off centre steering

Featured Replies

I had this before when the car was about 2.5yr old. It was fixed without comment by the dealer so I never new what was wrong if anything.

It's like the steering wheel has moved round a few degrees to the right. No pulling or drifting, nothing like that. I can take my hands off the wheel and the car will track properly. Brakes in the straight line too, nothing odd about the handling at all.

Checked the arches and it's level on both sides.

4 wheel alignment was done about 2 months ago but I've only notice this now. Not sure if anything has changed or when.

Any ideas?

Mine too. Everything bob on but steering wheel sits maybe 5 degrees clockwise. Doesn't matter but it messes with my head!

Same here. Though my car was suffering from the misaligned steering column issue but now I think the issue is more to do with the sterring wheel being a couple of degree's out.

Barring any accident damage, its usually a sign that the tracking hasn't been set properly.

I've known so many garages get this wrong that when I have a wheel alignment done I always find a straight piece of road on the way home. If the steering wheel isn't bang-on centre I turn round and take it straight back!

Definitely no accidents.

Wheel alignment was done on a Hunter set as per Brisky Commandment #8

I think it's acerbated by the misaligned dashboard that I'd never noticed until some feckin genius on here pointed it out most cars have it, I curse that man for tormenting my OCD.

The usual cause is that they set the alignment up perfectly at the wheels, but don't look inside the car to see if the steering wheel is centred when they're doing it. Very common in my experience, even at garages that should know better.

It probably doesn't bother most people but I do find it really annoying.

Yes def not been done right or maybe they have not tightened it all up.
