Can a dealer charge over the odds

Featured Replies

Can a dealer charge more than skoda uk say. Friend of mine got charged £12995 for a 1.2 TSI monty carlo  TECH as the price was only £11990. Dealer said you have signed for the finance and the car so you cannot have a refund is this right

If the Dealer is charging the price of a Diesel & Supplying a Petrol, then you simply contact Skoda UK to see why a Dealership is acting in this way.

ie Pocketing the extra dosh.

Of coarse he will need a refund or just the repayments corrected, and the Dealership will need to sort matters out.

He will contact the Finance Company and first of all let them know hopefully, the Application Form the Dealership filled in is

incorrect for starters.

Some might think fraudulent.

Surely he has a time period to change his mind on the deal? Tell said dealer to shove it. Order from nearest rival and then take the order to the crappy stealer to show him he missed out.

already got the car had 2 months but told the dealer about the price 2 1/2 weeks after he took delivery

Have they collected the car yet, or just paid a deposit?

A call to Skoda UK will let him know their stance.

A call to the Finance will give theirs.

If need be a call to Trading Standards will give the full story.

Personally i would send Emails to the CEO of the Dealership or Group tonight, and to the Company Directors should have it sorted.

Copies forwarded to Skoda UK & the Finance Company.

Then last of all they get forwarded to the Sales Manager of the Dealership & the Sales person.

These show the people that received them prior to theirs.

Takes 10-20 minutes to get their Email Address & compose the Email.

Cheers george will let him know.

This may ne useful. The act is a bit wordy, as it gives words such as 'reasonable' which are not accurate terms.

But as said above, the first port of call would be to call the finance company to see what details they have. Ie, are you paying for the diesel, the more expensive option.

The vehicle belongs to the Finance company until the Finance is paid,

the person borrowing the money is only the registered keeper.

Are you saying he was charged the price of the diesel version? If so and it was therefore a dealer error in reading the price list incorrectly then I would think the dealer should correct this,or be made to do so by Skoda UK.

Whatever the reason I can't see SUK being happy about a dealer charging over list price,it brings them into disrepute.

On the other hand, when desirable cars are in short supply they can change hands at above list, but I don't think this situation applies here.In fact, thinking about it,the dealer does this by pre-reg to himself, so the car is then technically used so it can then be sold for what the market can stand.

I suspect that a dealer can charge what they like under the law. If the person was stupid enough not to have checked the price before signing up then I would say it is their own fault.

Well personally I wouldn't lie down on this one. If it was a few bob then fair enough but a grand?? At least report it to Skoda as I'm sure they will want a word in the dealers ear?

Erm, the dealer gave them a price, they accepted the price? What's the issue? It just seems to me they should have shopped around first and not just accepted the first offer.

No-one doubts they were naive, the point is the dealer had acted in the way that gets motor traders a bad name, and,by any moral standards, cheated the customer. Also, perhaps what happened was legal but nevertheless I can't see Skoda UK not stepping in because of the damage that could be done to their reputation if this came out.

All of the above assuminjg the OP has given us the full story of course.

Post a copy of your friends invoice on here for all to see

Finance Charges?

Superguard?

Extended Warranty?

Road Licence?

Model in stock that dealer fitted options had been added to?

Seems to me that information is being with held here

Regards all

The last picture £12995 inc vat

The total price was £13407

What deal was it Bought Under.?

Was it the Monte Tech offer, & Free Servicing, any extra Warranty?

Or was it a 20% VAT Free, (equal to VAT Free.) ?

Sorry, i can not get  my head around what is purchased if it was the 1.2 TSI on offer @ £11990,

& not the 1.6 TDI @ £12995

There is no vat free on the tech got free service because taken with skoda finance gap ins for £399

if you look at the first pic 1.2tsi

It needs an explanation from the Dealership as to what was purchased and why that was the price that Finance was provided on.

If the explanation is not satisfactory,

then surely Skoda UK can sort out if the correct price was paid or not.

'The Finance is signed/arranged and there can be no refund can not be right'.

george

EDIT,

Then you are at £11,990 plus £399 = £12,389

£12,995 minus £12,389 = £606 difference  ?????

So is that the Over Payment?
