Issue with driver's side electric window

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

Only recently the 'one touch' option for the drivers window which makes it fully open/close without having to hold down the button has stopped working. Pushing the button to the first click works as normal.  Pushing it to the second click results in the same behaviour with the window moving only while pressure is applied at the switch.  Switches on drivers dorr for all other windows behave fine with the 'one touch' operating as expected.

Just wondering if this had happened to anyone else and also if there's a Maxidot setting for enabling/disabling this function?

Cheers,

Seán.

Sounds like it needs recalibrating. Off the top of my head I think you need to close the window and hold the button for a couple of seconds then hold the button to open it and keep it held for a couple of seconds after it is fully open and that should do it.

Try pressing and holding the unlock button on the key fob untill all the windows open then press and hold the lock button on the fob untill all the windows come back up

Other option is to stick they key in the door, twist it and hold.

All the windows will come down.

Then do it again to lock and they should all go back up again.

Fixed an issue with my "anti-trap".

Page 42 in the manual apparently!

Having the same problem with the drivers door window, no one touch operation. Also had a problem with the anti trap on the same window, will not close just keeps going up and down. Dealer as re programmed the window twice but now they have decided to fit a new window lifter, I presume this is the electric motor.

Hi Sean

You don't mention what car you have.

On our Yeti if the one touch option stops working we just turn the ignition on (don't actually start the car) hold both front window switches up for 10seconds, switch ignition off and the system is now reset and should be back to normal .

Hope this helps .

Thanks for all the replies folks - much appreciated.  And thanks especially to 7029bob - your solution worked a treat!  Driver's window is now behaving perfectly! :-)  Oh, it's a 2012 2litre 110bhp Diesel Yeti that I have...

I suppose it has to be said. :giggle:

No problem, but as a pay back could you arrange for some decent weather in the Enniskillen area when we come over for our fishing holiday 1st couple weeks in Sept.

I shall put in a good word with the Irish weather gods - hopefully it'll work but they are a 'changeable' and 'unsettled' lot at the best of times!

On locking my Yeti this morning outside of my work place I held the lock button on the remote fob to fold the mirrors noticed they had not folded but as this has already happened a few times before left the car and went in , on returning to the car I noticed the window on the drivers door was partially open. The car had been parked in the street for 11 hours with the window open.

I noticed then when I closed the drivers window with button on the door the window would close , if I did not stop immediately as the window reached the fully closed position the window would open. I do not think this is something that used to happen?

When I got home I tried the fob again and found by holding the lock button for a few seconds resulted in the window opening again

I will try 7029bob suggestion above tomorrow

I feel very lucky that my car has been parked up all day with the window open without losing either the car or its contents

You need to reset the windows to sort this, as described in the manual.

Thanks 7029bob

i followed your suggested fix as below

On our Yeti if the one touch option stops working we just turn the ignition on (don't actually start the car) hold both front window switches up for 10seconds, switch ignition off and the system is now reset and should be back to normal

And it corrected the fault first time.  I am not sure if the manual gives the same fix I could not find it in the manual.

I did ring the dealers and they said I should book it in and they will check it out.

Non functioning window is on page 44 of the Yeti handbook. It talks about leaving a window open & then having the battery disconnected. If you did not do this, ignore it and go through the procedure on page 44. I did it yesterday evening and it worked.

When it was NOT working I noticed that the drivers window was completely unresponsive either up & down when using the key fob to lock (close windows and roof or) unlock (open windows and roof)

Hope this helps

I used to be a regular visitor to the Killyhevlin a few years ago for the fishing, either from one if their chalets or on the Lower Loch itself but the bream fishing went from some best you could find to (in my experience) dire.

If you've been recently, how is it fishing these days?

Sent you a PM rather than go off topic

This worked for me too - thank you.

This has happened to my car a couple of times, it happens when the system voltage drops below a certain level an the computer reacts to it. Just go through the reset procedure as Bob said but you only have to operate the drivers door window switch in order to do the reset and the window will work just fine.

Ian

Well that's useful to know in these days of no volt meter. windows don't work properly = battery going flat! ;)

When funny things happen, my first thought is voltage = battery age/state.

Car is 17 months old having covered 8000miles. If the battery is U/S it a shouldn't be and b must be faulty manufacture.

Thanks to you 7029bob. Just had the same problem with my 2013 TDi 4 x 4. Fixed in a few moments. Closest I've ever come to computer programming. :)
