Octavia MK1 LHD -- right passenger window dropped down

Featured Replies

Big VAG problem as I read for Gold MK4 etc. Can find some guides to fix it but none for the Octavia. Is there a guide for this? The electrical window won't work anymore and the window dropped into the door panel. I just taped it back up but this of course isn't the solution.

Hello,

The procedure is almost exactly the same as for the Golf.  Take door inner off, replace carrier, put door inner back on :)

I removed the panel in order to bring the window up but there's hardly any room to do anything?

Ah nevermind I found a Golf guide. Guess this is a days work.. anyone know the partnumber of the carrier?

Sorry, I don't have the part number as the carrier hasn't yet failed for me!  But I know it's fairly easy as I had to remove it to replace a failed lock mechanism.

You'll probably find the plastic clips on the regulator slide have broken. A dealer will sell you the complete regulator (minus the motor) but you can get replacements clips from eBay.

e.g. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-OCTAVIA-WINDOW-REGULATOR-Clip-FRONT-Right-96-04-MK1-DRIVER-REPAIR-/271071629459

Argh! This forum on my PC is driving me insane. The above post was supposed to follow with...But they're often crap and break too. Best option is a genuine complete regulator. I gave up with crappy repair kits after too many recurring failures. But I can't even edit it! :(

A lot of the Golf Mk4 boys around here only use the seller in my link for that reason. I've fitted a fair number and they look better than the orignals.

A new regulator is roughly £80 retail including VAT.
