Retrofitting electric mirrors on a Felicia

Featured Replies

I came across a feli in the local scrappy with electric mirrors, and I wouldn't mind them on my truck. Anyone ever moved these from one car to another? Is the wiring a standalone loom or part of the dash loom?

Cheers

Steve

You will need the door looms and the mirror and cental locking loom mirrors trims switch why not take the central locking too I have done this to my felicia and now my fun I will help ya I have a kit here

Hmm, never looked if it had central locking come to think of it, that said, I never lock it anyway, saves them making a mess breaking in to find there's nowt worth nicking!

Is the leccy mirror loom easy to get out of the dash, or is it a dash out job?

No, not a dash out job, but removing the "black section" on the dash (switches and instruments) will make it easier. As the donor is in the scrappy, you can be less careful in it's removal.

If memory serves, the loom is in three parts, two for the doors and one for across the car. If you remove the internal plastic sill trim by the front of the doors, you'll see the loom come from the door into a plug. You'll need the door section (easy enough to work out how to take the trim off, you need to do this to get the mirror housings off too.) and then follow the other side unplugging and making notes as you go as to what you unplugged. The driver's door is a little more complicated as you'll need the remove the switch section and take that section of door-handle with you.

You'll also need the heated rear window switch whilst you're there as the mirrors are heated too.

When it comes to the mirror housing, you can swap the electrics over to your original housings. You'll need a pin to "unlock" a couple of the connectors to remove the wiring from the donor housing. Also removing the panel under the housing will help greatly.

Probably sounds more complicated than it is, but is worth doing. If the donor has central locking, take that too. These features are always useful when it comes to selling ;) ;)

Tools needed small flat screw driver phillips screw drive and a 13mm spanner earth wire the rest is easy on scrapper start on doors the loom in car take all clips from wires in door as yours will not have as many. You will end up with 2x mirrors 2mirror blanks 2xdoor looms one switch handle one car loom and if wanted the lock assemblys out off the doors fronts are a pain to get out rears easy p.s take any door card clips as they may brake on yours. And if you wanted a alarm the lock and unlock wires are yellow and black on a eath side
