Boost leak? Please see Pics!

Featured Replies

Emissions light is on the dash, comes on every time when I go above 1 bar boost,  also car instantly goes into limp mode..............

I assume the pipe below needs replacing, question is, can I get an uprated one? if so,any recommendations, potential parts and labour cost, direct links to store/ebay/ECP, GSF etc?

On pic 3, there seems to be another leak? or is it normal for this thin pipe (on the right) to be this shiny?

Thanks peeps!

Sometimes the ally clips tear under the pressure- if you don't want to buy a new one - use a couple of self tappers and screw them together. I did mine and no more problems

I have the same problem, but with a aftermarket intercooler fitted. Its leaking like yours but the original pipe has been modified to form an adaptor for the new pipe to clamp onto. I believe forge make a uprated direct replacement, like what you require, but im struggling to find an adaptor to fit into the turbo elbow for aftermarket hoses to clamp onto. Anyone shed any light.

Thanks for the help guys, I also have an aftermarket intercooler, after running the additional boost its taken its toll after 18 months! Yep I could do with that Forge replacement. Work will be undertaken at Unit 18 hopefully, so Ali may have a better understanding where to source this part.

I too think I've got a leak here..you can buy a replacement coupler but it doesn't fit the original pipe!

Looks like o ring in pipe connector is missing

The original pipe has a special end with a boost restricter fitted with a spring clamp.

SFS do billet alloy ends that will fit onto the pipe and fit so much better.

Think it a 51mm size you need these are around £16+vat

Order a new o ring and clip part number below

3C0 145 117

1J0 145 769

SFS also now do a one pipe lower pipe from turbo to intercooler

Made in polished alloy with 2 short silicone hose and billet alloy ends

This gets rid of 2 of the factory connections and allows the pipe to move with engine

I have one of these on my ibiza and its well worth the money

Got an Ibiza or Fabia 1.9tdi ? Our new hi flow turbo to intercooler kit is also ready, gets rid of turbo restriction and the feeble VAG end fittings, no more pipes blowing out!
Confirmed fit so far is Fabia 2 VRS 1.9TDi PD130 ASZ,
Ibiza MK4 FR130 Tdi ASZ 2003-2005 but should fit VW Lupo
RRP is £125+VAT but forum discounts are available. Kit includes alloy pipe, 2 silicone elbows with special oil fluoro liner, 2 machined alloy end fittings and 4 hose clips.

In the third pic. The leak looks like either the oil return from the turbo to the sump, or the oil feed. I'd get that looked at ASAP.

Hi guys, the bit circled in red has a slit! I thinks it's just worn away and now I see where the leak is.

What's the best solution for this?

Should I just order that turbo to intercooler pipe from SFS, will I need anything else?

Standard replacement pipe will be circa £100 I assume. Ill have to cut the end off anyway to fit the aftermarket pipe work for the intercooler......

As I said use self tappers and screw them together - if you get a new skoda replacement it will happen again at some point

Can I just purchase the part highlighted in red, then re-use the remaining pipe work : /

Fair point Dave, I'd rather the get an uprated part if poss to permanently rectify the issue. Also handy for the next buyer of the car when sold : )

If I order the above Forge pipe, I assume one end into the turbo, the other I'll have to fashion a jubilee connection for the silicone pipe which leads to the inter cooler?

Please can some just confirm this, I can then order this asap : )

Cheers
