How to tell Bolero version - 156F or 156M?

Featured Replies

I need to find out if I have a 1Z0 035 156F (Blaupunkt) or 1Z0 035 156M (Delphi) Bolero. How do I go about finding this information? Is it readily accessible somewhere?

Take it out and look at the back, or get someone to scan the car with VCDS.

Is it easy enough to remove or do you need those funny 'keys' you have to slide down the sides? Or have things moved on since the 90s? Ha.

Thanks for the help!

Thanks Mike. Is it easy enough to pull the box out? Any recommended procedure?

Just prise it upwards, use a suitable tool - not anything sharp or narrow.

The box appears to include two air vents. Seems like quite a big singular piece of plastic. I assume that it has a reasonable amount of give in it!

Excellent. Thanks! Incidentally I don't suppose that anybody knows precisely when the Bolero changed from one version to the other? I have an 11 plate.

...156M. Yay! Didn't need to remove the box in the end. Took a punt on the hidden menu by holding down the setup button for 10 seconds. The part number was listed there.

What is the difference between the two units?  i.e why is one better than the other?

The F version has a problem downloading and displaying the phone book of phones connected by bluetooth apparently. I am in the market for an OEM bluetooth module but wanted to make sure I had te correct Bolero for the module I intend to purchase. However, others on here seem to have coped ok without the phone book on the Bolero so I might have gone for it even if I dd have the F.

This doesn't appear to work on mine, maybe because mine is most likely older 156F unit? - please can you explain how you get it to show hidden menu (all I get is radio service mode, which does not show HU spec)

You hold down the setup button on the Boleo until the menu appear with the 'system' option. Although I'm not sure that all Boleros will display the option I they haven't been coded to. I was just lucky that it had!

No luck with mine I only get "Language, Factory settings, illumination" under system menu!   - Good luck with Bluetooth install, did mine myself, pretty easy, I was surprised mine didn't need coding for HU to see BT module.

Thanks! So you have probs with the phone book then? I might need to pick your brain if the install stumps me at any point.
