Walking up to the car today I've noticed that there is something hanging down underneath it. Taking a closer look it looks like it could be the cover to the CAT and that it's rusted through down one-side. Thankfully it's not hanging down to low but am now fairly worried the next time I go over a speed bump that's just slightly to high!

 

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do with the thing/know that it is definitely that I'm looking at and serious enough to worry about to get sorted?

It's not the cat. Personally I'd just remove it. It just looks like a heat shield for the exhaust to me.

Mines is completely off, the cat is further up the pipe and is smaller. It is the rear silencer
