Porsche brakes

Featured Replies

After having a look at adapters and confusing myself i thought id return here

Does anyone know of adapters or if its even possible to run porsche 986 brakes under 16" wheels? Even if i have to run spacers.

Cheers

Luke

Don't know directly but anything is possible with a bit of engineering. A mate of mine has fitted Mitsubishi got callipers to his proton gti and that was a world first as everyone reckons they wouldn't fit

It is a very confusing area, I'll share what I can remember.

There are adapters available to run 986 REAR calipers on a 312mm disc. These might fit under a 16 wheel, but the problem is I found a few people saying they tried this and there just wasnt enough stopping power because they are rear brakes. I found adapters to run front Porsche brakes but these were to go on a 325 disc which wouldnt fit under 16's and it's hard work getting discs.

Yeah id heard the same about the rear calipers. The pistons arent big enough or something. I plan on using front calipers.

I was thinking possibly get them machined to fit the 288 discs maybe? If the caliper will allow. I have a contact with a cnc mill so can get them made. Its just the measurements im pants with aha

Would be a good thing if someone made one in my eyes. Not everyone wants 17" wheels. And even then theres not many that clear without spacers

Edit: if anyones got a porsche caliper sat doing nothing that i can offer up, thatd be awesome :3

Hummmm, I assumed they use the 312mm disc on the rears as the front would be too big to go on the 312mm disc. I dont think a front caliper will work with a 288 disc. That said I'm not a expert by a long chalk lol.

Its gonna be a case of offering one up and going from there i think. 288's would be ideal. But id deal with 312's. just didnt want to be restricted to 17" wheels

No one on here currently have porsche brakes fitted?

If you know someone then get them to message me :D

Ask Pete, group1rs he has the Porsche brakes on the front of his Octy. They are 312s so may fit in a 16 et dependant.

I have porsche brembos I bought caliper carriers off of eBay and just put that I was using 312mm discs in a message but the adapters were marked up for a mk4 golf but my standard 16 inch wouldn't clear might have done with 10mm spacers it was very very close

I can have a chat with DaveB from VagBremTechnic when he returns back off his holiday in the next few weeks or so, he does a lot of these kits and suggested this setup to myself for my own car or even go for the Aston Martin 4 pots, will be combining whichever setup I go for with alloy disc bells which we also produce for him at our work.

My offset on my 16's is about et31 i believe. So im hoping i clear with minimal spacing

If you were closer id be cheeky and ask to try one of my wheels over them lol

Can't remember my offset on my old wheels but that was the restriction it cleared the top but not the spokes, I run ronal s3 avus wheels now and there offset is et35 but they clear nicely with a small bit of room

Yeah shame your so far :(
