DRL on Superb

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a Superb Alldrive (i think it's called Outdoor in the UK) -13, but have a small "issue" with it..

Though i only have one bulb in my foglight, my dipped beam (BiXenon) are used as daytime light. I would like to use my foglights as DRL instead (and later change them to LEDs), but my dealer says that it's impossible. They also says that it's impossible to change the consumption meter in the maxidot (it differs about 0.1liter/10km) and the speedometer.

I don't belive them.... And i think that i can fix this with VCDS. Can somebody give me some ideas of what to change to make it work as i want?

Thanks!

Mats

Hi, and welcome to Briskoda :)

If he's not seen this already, give Gizmo68 a PM, he's got VCDS and a Superb so should be able to give a guide as to if and how :)

I don't understand why Skoda didn't offer the option of the dedicated LED DRL's on the Superb Outdoor as they do on the Octavia Scout.

It is a factory option here in the UK to swap the standard front fog lights for the LED DRL's instead...

It's been possible to select the front fog lights to perform the function of DRL's on the MkII Octavia since 2007 (it is even possible to alter their brightness allowing you to reduce the brightness and therefore use the standard fog lights) - all with VCDS.

However the Superb is very different so things may well of course be different.

If it is possible to set the fogs to run as DRL's (and save the life of your bi-xenon headlights) these genuine Skoda LED DRL's (from the Fabia vRS & Octavia Scout) are a re straight fit into the Superb Outdoor...

I have not coded a Superb Outdoor but silver is correct that the fog lights can be coded via VCDS to be used as DRL’s on the normal Superb.

Which LED DRL's did you get?

On the Fabia vRS they dim to perform the role of side lights, on the Octavia they extinguish completely as the side lights inside the main headlight are still used for sidelights.

I assume the third pin is to allow for the dimming, in which case you won't need to use this pin on a Superb.
