Those who already have their new Octys, how long did you wait from build week to collecting your car? I could probably find some idea by trawling through millions of threads but is two weeks a realistic expectation? Don't tell me it's something like four?

Ordered mine 31st march and picked up 7th June. Build week to follow in a mo......where's my diary!!

Trying to find build week....Week 20, but think actually was built in week 21 from the bits of paper I found in glovebox, was 3 weeks from build to pick up.

usually 2-3.  mines due to build on wk36 so expecting end of sept, beginning of oct.

 

however my last one took a week to get from build to dealer and they did the PDI in a day so it depends on the variables including how many cars are at the dock waiting for the ship before yours gets there!

Two weeks from building to pick up! That would have raised a laugh at the Edinburgh Fringe. ;-)

At what point do you get the registration number and can sort out insurance?

The dealer registers it online & at that point the vrm is allocated. You should have got a card offering 7 day's free Skoda insurance. When the dealer gives you the details of the car you ring Skoda insurance & they email a cover note direct to the dealer so he can tax the car.

You just then sort out your own insurance change/cover to coincide with picking up the car.

I didn't get a card when we ordered, I'll ask the dealer about it. Not sure at what point I can get quotes and contact current insurer.

How much was your best quote if you don't mind me asking?

I did a quick look on compare the market before I ordered mine and the cheapest quote was £240.

Hoping I can get it even cheaper by the time my car comes as I'll turn 30 as well.

In not totally sure what the exact quote is, as I would be changing about 4 months into existing policy, it's just a vehicle change.

My current is around £420 and I'm 33 with 15 years no claims

And an advanced driving course.

But I am in N.ireland which is more expensive in the first place.

Yeah, area/post codes make a big difference :-(

I haven't contacted my current insurer so not sure what it'll be with them but I've been quoted on compare sites £302 which is £100 less than my current policy on similar spec octavia which is 6 years old. I was expecting a rise especially with the EU ruling about women.

Mine was being built this week and I have a provisional delivery date of 16th September.

 

I've also got a provisional quote for changing the car on my insurance policy.... all of £36 increase which is mainly admin fee!!!

 

That has really shocked me as I'm going from a 110hp diesel Citroen with a 0-62 of 11.2s to a 150hp diesel Octavia with a 0-62 of 8.5s!
