New air filter

Featured Replies

As some of you know my car decided to try and suck the standard paper filter so I took the plunge of buying a cone filter as I've wanted one for a while, bought a RamAir filter and also a 45 degree alloy pipe and red silicone hose from Auto silicone hoses, got it all fitted tonight, makes the bay look tidier with the air box gone and with my battery already gone, makes a right loud sucking noise will have to get used to that lol.

Mine makes a lovley chatter when i let off on boost.

Sounds just like yours dan.

I have seen the cone fitted like this and I have also seen it fitted into the original filter box with a bit of modding, are there any advantages of open or enclosed?

Looks a tidy job though, I would like to see you Fabia try and eat that one.

I don't think there is any benefit mate, maybe a bit quieter if its in the original filter box.

I bet She will give it a good go LOL !

Get a video Tom, do you get any chatter on lift off?

Do it in Instagram and tag me :)

This is mine

its running like Hell at the minute mate I think the maf Is destroyed after it ate the filter, it's slow as hell and struggles to get up the revs, just unplugged the maf and it runs a lot better but still not how it should. Will get a video up when she's sorted thow :)

Get that 150 hybridised then it will try turn it inside out.

I don't want to sound bad but that looks terrible.

Nothing wrong with the standard air box set up tbh.

think you're the only one who has said that yet, but each to their own pal, the standard air box looks awful.

Doesn't look too bad, i thing the cai looks a bit bodge with the cable tie. Would say the standard box with pd160 intake looks better.

like I said, each to their own. I thought the standard air box looked horrid and the car destroyed the paper filter that's why I've got rid of it, don't want to risk doing it again and ruining another Maf.

Yea I understand we all have different tastes. I personally think the standard air box looks well in the engine bay. It fits with the rest and looks like it is meant to be there.

If you were worried about the paper panel filters, maybe a Jabba Cone in a Box might have been abetter option, keeping the OEM look in the bay.

Just my opinion of course.

At the end if the day it's your car and you have to drive it, so as long as you are happy, that's all that really matters.

Are you planning a FMIC? Would look great with pipework running down the opposite side :)

Wish I'd gone for red silicone now rather than boring black!

yeh I understand, I don't like the oem look in the bay want, to make it look nice, the jabba cone in a box is far to expensive for what it is that's why I didn't fancy that. Anyways I'm happy so let's leave it at that lol.

yeh dan that's next on my list, was at my local exhaust place Friday gone actually pricing it up, looks like it's gunna be a much cheaper option than the Seat sport cooler. Going for a darkside universal cooler with custom pipework from my local exhaust place :)

Need this sound in my life!!

Would it have any negative effect on the car? As in breaking a MAF or anythiing??

i don't think so as its not an oiled filter mate.

Try and get it fully hard piped if you can. Also I would go for 51mm pipework. Mine is 57mm and it's pretty tight in some places, it goes into 51mm at the turbo anyway.

The bloke who does my exhausts was supposed to be doing my hard pipe kit - but one day he just stopped emailing me - nothing since. I can only imagine he thought it was too much hard work. But he's done turbo conversions and everything.

I think my Seat Sport setup owes me £300 after everything. Does require loads of cutting to be fitted though!

is 51mm 2" ? He did say I wouldn't need any silicone bends like he just said bring some straight hose and he will bend the pipe instead of using silicone bends. I really can't justify the seat sport kit, even thow it does look awesome ! Hopefully ill get it done for under the £300 mark then ill be happy :)

Ahh nice one thanks :)

2" yes mate.

I would get it mounted right under the crash bar so that it's right in the lower grill! That's what annoys me about the seat sport, it's set so far back.

A seat Ibiza crash bar would give you some extra height to get an intercooler in :)

I wouldnt buy darksides universal one tom, its the same as all the ones on ebay and they are half the price ;)
