Dip stick falling apart

Featured Replies

Had the day off from work so I thought I would check the car over (2008 octavia VRS 2.0fsi) when I pulled the dip stick out to check the oil level the part of the dip stick that has the rubber seals on just crumbled and a few bits went back down the tube which is a worry.

I have now taken off all the lose plastic and it was very brittle and even the housing for the dip stick is cracked. Has anyone else had this and is there a better dip stick available.

Nathan.

Yep, mine did the same although I caught it before it fell apart. I ordered a new one from a dealership (although its a yellowy orange as opposed to dark orange). My mate who had a Seat had the same issue. IIRC a new one is about 9 quid. Mine lasted 5 years.
