My key fob sets off neighbours VW Van alarm every time I unlock my car

Featured Replies

Does anyone know what I can do to stop this, or what my neighbour can do to his van?

We haven't had any issues before but starting yesterday whenever I unlock my 2008 Octavia vRS my neighbors 2005 VW caravelle alarm goes off, if I lock my car the vans indicators flash but it des not stop the alarm going off.

At first I found this quite funny but now it's eating annoying!

Does this happen with both of your fobs?

Double check your fob batteries too, maybe causing issues with the TX frequency, if voltage is low?

No,his van has learned your fob signal.

Happened with my SDI and VW Bora.

I imagine he had his running one day with keys in ignition obviously

and you have come out at the same time, unlocked yours and driven

it away. Unbeknownst to you his van has learned to accept your unlock/lock

signal. It usually happens in winter when people have started their engines and then

locked the car/van shut with the other key while it warms up

which is kind of how you teach them to recognise the fob.

Check my post in here for some useful links.

You can re teach your vehicles but will need some cooperation from the

other guy.

Does this happen with both of your fobs?

Probably just the one in my experience.

Thanks for the replies. It just does it for the one fob.

Which one of us needs to re teach the fob to cars or do we both ave to?
