Came back to my car a few weeks ago to find someone had kindly whacked my O/S wing mirror, smashing the glass, the indicator, glass & holder and broken the colour trim surround. I reckon the best policy is to change the whole unit and can get one on ebay for just under £60 delivered (primed only). Can anyone tell me if this is a simple procedure?. Is it just the traingular plastic door trim adjacent to driver's door that has to come off or is it the whole door lining. Detailed instructions would be greatly appreciated.

 

 

Have done this on mine. The interior door trim needs to come off sadly. There is a torx screw behind the stereo speaker, a couple in the door handle beneath the plastic which levers off, and three down below if I recall correctly. Annoyingly they are different sizes and a magnetic driver and bits help.

Then 6 clips around the bottom and sides, behind the trim, which need to be levered out and usually break. Then you need to detach the electrics, lights and handle wire as you lift the door trim up and away from the groove in front of the window glass housing.

Its fiddly but once that is done it is pretty self explanatory. Have some spare clips and use plastic trim removal tools and don't be too rough.

Putting it back together is the reverse but you have to juggle a little to get everything back in order.

It sounds worse than it is to be honest.

As I say it is a bit but sounds worse than it is. Best advice is get the door clips up front so it can go back on. Ebay item:400528837078.

Adamal, thanks again for advice, but just to be clear my car does not have power folding mirrors, why does the door lining have to come off?

The three screws holding the whole unit are behind the triangle thing but the wiring to it is behind it I'm afraid, power folding or not. So unless you have only the basic non electric ones you will need to remove it. But you mention an indicator so there must be wiring. Also not sure but I can't remember if the triangle comes away without removing the trim.
