Sachs clutch help.

Featured Replies

I'm looking to buy this clutch from Jabbasport next week, Sachs performance clutch kit 6spd 02M pd TDI with Sachs DMF.

It is rated to upto 410lbft torque is this sufficient enough for a pd150 hybrid?

Is anybody running it?

What's the pedal feel like? Anbody care to give any pointers on the kit.

Cheers Lee.

What torque are you running?

Will you be modding the engine any further?

Ant I'm not sure on the torque figure I'm afraid as I haven't bought the turbo or had it mapped yet.

I shall not be going any further with power mods after this mate.

id go for the helix clutch mate, that's what I'm gonna be getting when my clutch goes

Looked at that kit but don't know if I could put up with the extra noise from the SMF if I'm honest.

I ran the sachs for a few months, felt and drove like standard.

Now running a helix and gear changes are much more grab and go :)

The chatter on the helix is quite bad, when stationary i usually have the pedal pressed down so it isnt heard so not a problem for me.

Sachs would be a good upgrade for those wanting a remap safe clutch imo and using it on the road.

Helix for those wanting more power and not being afraid of using it ;)

Where did you get the Helix setup from? Mardi gras Motorsport? What was the best price you could find?

You wont beat the Mardi gras Motorsport price. Make sure you phone them up and ask for the BEST price ;)

Joelk2010 pm me their best price if you didn't mind sharing bud. ;-)

For OE drive and feel ideally you would want Sachs performance clutch & DMF.

However, the helix and other SMF kits will give you concise clutch feel and gear changing without the worry of damage due to the abuse they can handle. The downside is the SMF is noisey, plenty of chatter, slightly heavier pedal.

One thing to note is one reason for the DMF fitting is to balance out the crankshaft vibrations, SMF will not damp out crankshaft vibrations.

Mardi Gras Motorsport told me their eat price for the Helix is £810 + VAT! But expensive, but in sure it's worth it!

helix is the one you want!

with 195bhp and 300lb-ft the standard dual mass flywheel for me lasted 20k until it killed itself

that is the problem with any dmf setup and chasing hybrid power, its not upto it!

Iv rang Jabba today and they have mentioned that the Sachs SMF flywheel kit they do is a lot quieter than the helix setup.

Thinking of going this route now, simply on the basis it will be a lot more acceptable day to day.

thats cause the flywheel is double the weight

better noise wise yes, but doesnt give as good a performance benefit

Joel your old sach organic is holding well, no slipping at all with 300lb-ft, no more waiting till 2500rpm, just drive it how I want to
