Skoda CEO'S COMMENTS TO TOP GEAR MAG REF:FABIA VRS FUTURE?

Featured Replies

Hi I'm vrskeith,

A previous owner of a 2x mk1 Fabia vrs' and one mk2. Got rid of mk2 before the residuals dropped through the floor.

Just thought I would point out an article in TOP GEAR MAG about an interview with Skoda CEO.

CHECK IT OUT - How can this guy blame the CUSTOMERS for their low sales- and then goes on to say the Monte-Carlo is the saving grace.

No mention of the Engine issues experienced by numerous owners- design faults also rumour of DSG issues in Asian markets.

How many Customers have got rid early at a considerable loss.

No mention of sympathy with those CUSTOMERS!!

150BHP DIESEL OR NOW 180 MATED WITH THE 6 SPEED MANUAL WOULD HAVE SEEN THE Vrs flying out of the showrooms Mr CEO.

WHAT DO YOU THINK!!

Cheers.

Keith

I have never owned one, and do not know what the engine issues were, but diesels are a disaster nowadays, with DMFs, DPFs, EGRs etc, all that cost over £1K to fix.  I recently came back to petrol after a series of diesel cars, all of which were a nightmare.

yes I read it, but I can't see where he was 'having a go' at customers, just saying what customers wanted. (the look of a vRS)

If you relate to the history of MK1 VRS - MK2 VRS, POWER UNIT AND GEARBOX, you would know that a lot of Fabia vRS purist didn't want petrol high reving complex engine or a DSG box.

They wanted fun,at realistic price and reliable low cost motoring. I.E. much of the same but better- 150 bhp or 170 bhp diesel.

Hence I think CEO is taking the P.

I put my point of view in the other thread.

In short, the successor to the mk1 did quite well, the Monte Carlo.

Just needed a littel bit more ooomph.

I am sure the monte carlo can he mapped to give the 130bhp that the mk1 vRS give????

Indeed, but then the mk1 mapped to 175-ish bhp which was part of the appeal.
