Vcds

Best place to buy vcds software? Is that all I need and a cable from laptop to car? Cheers for any help

Look at the Ross tech website, it has a list of UK distributors. Anything on eBay offering the full version very cheap is almost certainly fake. VCDS Lite won't work fully on your car, so you can't buy a cheap KKL cable.

Gendan or Ilexia in the UK.

You'll rarely see a genuine used one for much less than a used one.

Thanks for the help, after buying through Ross tech or any other place on their website will I still need to buy any cables or will I get everything I need from rosstech?

You buy the cable and then download the software.

So the price is just for a cable but it comes with downloadable software?

Yes, the cable is the important bit. You also get free software updates and support from Ross tech.

You can download the software now if you want to and run it, but you won't get much out of it without the cable and a car.

So is it possible to download the software for free and buy a cable off eBay or am I just being stupid

You can use VCDS lite with an eBay cable but it won't do CAN so you can't access a lot of the controllers in the mkII Octavia.

You could.

But I wouldn't.

Unless its a genuine Ross Tech cable. Guaranteed.
