Mk2 PD Cutting Out

Featured Replies

Hi all :hi: ,

Hopefully somebody can help me I was driving my Octavia today and when I was slowing down for traffic etc the engine cut out.  The same happened about 2 weeks ago but it's been fine since.  Anyway got back in the car after a visit to the hospital and driving out of the car park the same happened again twice, each time the car started up again fine.

Has anyone else had this issue? What's the cause and how can it be fixed?

Thanks,

JLR.

Hi there,

I'm having the same problem with my 2008. Did you get any resolution for yours ? Nobody I've spoken to has any idea.

Cheers

Have either of you had a VCDS or dealer scan for any diagnostic faults?

Could be a throttle position sensor issue, perhaps. Not sure if a worn injector or glow plug would exhibit this sort of behaviour.

How old is it?

mine does it on the odd occasion. Never shown up on vcds

Ours did until new clutch and flywheel were fitted, no problem since.

Could it be an earth fault or failing battery?

Ours did until new clutch and flywheel were fitted, no problem since.

I nearly posted on this thread, but then thought that folks would think I was mad.

The only time my 1.9 TD PD started cutting out, was the morning I took it to have the DMF/clutch unit changed, the car was awful to drive, and I was just relieved to get to the garage.

It never did it before, and it hasn't done it since, so there may be a connection.
