The recall should apply anywhere these cars are sold, what if in the future a car is used over there say on holiday ignorant of this fact of self combustion a great tragedy could occur, french *******!! money first not peoples safety.

at least they know the wheel trims will be salvaged to be able to sell them on ebay!

Love the ads next to the story asking if you want to buy a pug 307 LOL nice timing.

Sure this was on Watchdog a while ago.

Edit - No it wasn't that it was because they kept cutting out on motorways etc.

Now that's a proper flamer kit

Should be on the back though?

 As if we need more reasons not to buy a 307...:rofl:

Happened to a friend's 307 last year, luckily it was a company car and not in his garage. Strangely every French car I've come across has had rubbish electrics.

Where does your friend live?

Pretty unlucky really. If my Furby burst into flames I would cry.

Stupid statement in there tho:

* If you are planning a long holiday in one of the countries involved check with your dealer first ?!!

I could interpret that as: well actually it could happen anywhere but the temperatures/moisture in the air/whatever conditions are not the same. Hard to say ;)

I think it was on Watchdog, something to do with the ignition switch sticking and holding the starter motor on after the engine started, keeps going until it burns out starting an electrical fire.

Saw the aftermath of this a couple of years ago.. got back to where my car was parked in multistory.. to find fire engine and firefighters all around a smouldering 307. water everywhere and front of the 307 completely destroyed..

My car was parked a few spaces away and surprisingly the damage was well contained and no damage to nearer parked cars.

Could have been a lot worse if the fire had spread to other vehicles!

I saw them on watchdog, water was getting into the ignition circuit and shorting it out, often causing the car to start of its own accord. One guy left it in reverse on his drive, the car started, reversed into his house, caught fire and took part of the house with it, and Peugeot offered to replace the car but said that's where their liability ended :thumbdwn:

You're right - i think it was a mini that went up in flames
